The last company visit during Elin Almbacke and Catharina Beckman’s trip to Shanghai was to BtC (Shanghai) International Trading Co., Ltd. The General Manager, Carl He, welcomed us at their office.
Bridge to China AB is a company that works as a link between Sweden and China. They help Swedish companies to do business in China and can help with the entire value chain. They do sourcing, consulting and distribution. For instance they can find the appropriate supplier for a customer who want to outsource production. BtC also facilitates for companies interested in entering the Chinese market. They are a WFOE, Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise, a name for mainland China-based business that is limited-liability corporations. There are 15 employees at the office in Shanghai today who are serving customers in Europe and USA. Big customers are for example ABB, Atlas Copco, Vattenfall and Boliden.
The company offers internship to interested students. A good Chinese language skill is an advantage, but not a requirement. It is also possible for Chalmers students to apply for writing their master thesis at Bridge to China.
